Having played guitar most of his life and playing in a variety of different bands, Matt set up MyLyricalMind in 2011 when he started to write his own songs and play live.
His first EP, Dreams Break at Dawn was self released in January 2012 to positive reviews, it was a raw sounding set of acoustic folk songs. This release enabled him to start playing the songs live around the North West area at open mics. He recorded a cover version of Pictures
by Benjamin Francis Leftwich
which received over 20,000 plays in the space of a couple of months.
Matt immediately set about recording his next batch of songs and 4 months later his second EP, 'Kings EP
' was released to critical acclaim. Building on top of his acoustic sound, Kings was much grander in sound and production. The lead single Drop Me a Line
received a very positive reaction online and was picked up by the BBC and XFM where it received airplay. He then toured the EP across the UK which included a sold out show in London and multiple festival appearances.
During this time Matt worked with Flaunt
to co-produce their album Codon
After a year of touring and producing, Matt went back to writing and started to self produce his debut album Bittersweet Serenity
