Rock n' roll, punk and blues in the 21st century; Maddi Gruber (a.k.a. Madd), started in 2014 when she began recording and producing her own music in her bedroom.
Six months after releasing her first song, Madd started her first band, Astro Turf, playing shows around Northern California. Astro Turf lasted about a year before Madd had turned to making music on her own, releasing her debut album, Q.E.D., a year after the band's demise in December of 2016. Madd has worked with her good friend, Clay Hawkeswood (drummer of Astro Turf) as a two piece playing shows locally in their hometown Chico, California.
Madd’s greatest influences include The White Stripes (the band that made Madd pick up a guitar in 2011), The Clash, The Cure and Prince. Madd taught herself how to sing in building her own style with vocal inspirations Etta James and Little Richard.
Q.E.D. was arranged/produced by Madd while she was still in high school. All instruments on Q.E.D. were played by Madd with except drums which were played by Clay Hawkeswood. This album has a range of genres from rock to folk, blues and punk with lyrics about space/time, human relations, being young and learning as a kid growing up.
