Otoboke Beaver おとぼけビ~バ~ are a punk-rock-garage quartet from Kyoto, Japan. The band’s name is taken from a local ‘Love Hotel’.
Formed in 2009’s summer in Kyoto, Japan, and consists of Accorinrin (Lead Vocal & Guitar), Yoyoyoshie (Guitar &Vocals), Hiro-chan (Bass &Vocals) and Pop (Drums &Vocals).Live the band often invade the audience, often with guitarist Yoshie crowd-surfing whilst playing wild riffs flawlessly. Sonically, it’s crazed, deranged garage, punk-rock-pop at break-neck speed and everyone sings, often in Kyoto slang. They are influenced mostly by Japanese acts such Yapoos and Hikasyu & shared stages with Shonen Knife, Miyavi, Guitar Wolf, Say Sue Me, Leggy, Pika, DMBQ & Ni-hao!

Damnably Records discovered the band in 2015 & released their back catalogue as the Okoshiyasu-otoboke-beaver compilation in 2016 followed by the Bakuro Book EP & debut UK tour.

In 2017 i-D premiered ‘Love Is Short’ single and interviewed the band, The Fader premiered the ‘S’il Vous Plait’ video, NPR raved about their astonishing SXSW appearances which were filmed by NHK for a 40 minute national TV documentary in Japan. The band SOLDOUT the 100 Club in London and the RSD special 7″ of ‘Love Is Short’ sold out and was in the UK charts for 4 weeks.
NPR also premiered the grindcore revenge video for ‘Love Is Short’ then Pitchfork declared it one of the best new tracks and Premiered the extreme anime video for “ikezu”.
