He continues, “A lot of rappers won’t speak about it, but I will. I make it sound cool. So I’ve been gaining fans, gaining connections and building relationships off the sound off my music, off my talent.”
Born Calvin Wood and raised on the seedy South Chicago suburb Calumet City, this 19-year-old rap phenome came up the hard way. The middle of five children to a single mom, young Calvin used art to channel the frustrations of growing up below the poverty level amid the guns, gangs and drugs that plagued his community.
Since then, PaperGang was created,Calboy is the flagship artist. He dropped his first mixtape the Chosen One hosted by DJ Victorious, DJ Mil Ticket and DJ Amari, in July of 2017 and follow-up mixtape Anxiety hosted by “The Midwest Legend,” DJ Pharris in December. And now, his third, self-titled mixtape Calboy The Wilboy drops on June 18 The Paper Gang, Inc. frontrunner anticipates the lead single “Ku Ku.”
