From a young age, Sarah Nauta (19) and Julia Nauta (16) have been busy singing, dancing and acting. Born and raised in The Netherlands, Sarah & Julia participated as a duo in the Dutch National Junior Song Contest with their song Live Life.
In the final they gained third place. Since then they released their own singles. The up-tempo song Celebrate We're Young (2014) ended up in first place in the Kids Top 20, as well as its successor Gold (2014).
In 2015, the movie Jack Bestelt Een Broertje was released in cinemas and Sarah & Julia were asked to sing its soundtrack song: Ik Ben Ik, Jij Bent Jij. After that, the girls released their next single Something Wonderful. It stood at number 1 in the Kids Top 20 for ten weeks in the summer of 2015.
In the autumn of 2015, Sarah & Julia released a single named Here Come The Girls in collaboration with the most popular teen magazine in Holland, Tina. And with their sixth number-1 hit in the Kids Top 20 for the single Dance Like Nobody's Watching, 2016 was also a successful year for Sarah & Julia. Especially because in May they won the very first Radio Disney Music Award for Best Dutch Act, leaving behind the all the popular boybands.
At the beginning of 2017, the girls’ new single was released, named Hoofd In De Wolken. This Dutch song – featuring rapper Nigel Sean – was specially written for the Dutch dubbed version of the movie Smurfs: The Lost Village. The song stood for a record number of 18 weeks at number 1 in the Kids Top 20.
