Sleeping by the Fireplace Listening to the Falling Rain
Andrew Brel was born in 1960 in Johannesburg to Greek parents, growing up in South Africa during the apartheid years before emigrating to England at the age of 24 as a Greek citizen, and EU member.
After 29 years in London working as a musician, producer and author, Andrew moved to the start of a fourth nationality in California. Since his first paid gig aged 15 in 1976 with his garage band, HOBO, he has worked professionally in music. Andrew emigrated penniless from Johannesburg to London in 1984. Within one year he performed over 300 paid gigs and was able to buy his first home, on the Thames Riverbank in London. Initially he worked as a solo entertainer, performing thousands of gigs as a ‘one-man-band’. After burning out from too many loud gigs, he went on to full time studio recordings, owning a number of recording studios, a production company and a record label. He worked with many of the world’s finest musicians, writing songs and producing albums. In 2001, he began working on a lifelong interest in healing meditation music. Using the studio as an instrument, incorporating new age compositional techniques including binaural beats, solfeggio frequency music (a mathematically considered consistent resonance) and isochronic tones (motions and vibrations occurring at the same time, equal in duration). Since 2001, Andrew has released 11 albums of this musical style, including three albums with legendary Scottish musician, Hugh Burns. His music is played worldwide.
