ooi (pron.: owiː ) formed in 2016 after a chance online encounter between Tokyo-based US expat Nicolai Zettl (vocals), German drummer Flo König, and Dodo Dal Bosco (keys) from Luca, Italy, led them to start exchanging recordings and skyping on a daily basis. In August 2018 the trio met up for the first time in real life to perform a number of shows together.
Their most recent single “For Egon” was released on the Full Moon in Taurus, or October 24th. It’s the first glimpse into a stylistically divergent EP they’ll be releasing spring next year titled “Ghost”. “For Egon” showcases their eagerness to explore and experiment with different styles and genres while maintaining their unique sound.
The near future sees ooi releasing a new single every Full Moon and working on new material in Andalusia, where they will be house-sitting a seasonally closed hotel.
