"If Prince had a musical lovechild with Maroon 5 and they decided to rewrite the soundtrack to Top Gun, you’d come close to the supernatural, sultry, funkadelic sound that is The Love Elektrik." - Leslie Schultz, Nashville Unsigned
The Love Elektrik is seductive synth-pop funk personified, as evidenced in their latest single, "What U Want" — a shimmering collage of sledgehammer drum machines, gritty analog synths, funky INXS-inspired guitars, and an amalgam of atmospherics that sound part Peter Gabriel, part Skrillex.
Currently based in both Los Angeles and Nashville, the duo (comprised of American frontman Anthony Rankin and Swedish bassist Victor Brodén) fuses the ethereal funk of the 1980s with a millennial pop aesthetic, a bridge between the Minneapolis Sound of Prince and the neo-retro ethos of artists like Chromeo, Charlie Puth, The 1975, and Jonas Brothers. Amplified by magnetic live performances and Rankin's ever-flexible voice, their songs bristle with infectious rhythms, major-league melodies and bulletproof hooks.
Since their debut album Underneath was released in the fall of 2017, TLE has been featured in a variety of blogs and other media, such as Kings of A+R, iHeartRadio, Noisetrade, Ourstage, VEVO, and more.
