After years of studying, performing, and writing a wide range of music separate of one another, Los Angeles-native twin brothers Jack and Benny Lipson united to birth the project jackbenny, which injects musical theater storytelling into the gamut of artistic styles they continue to explore.
The duo shared their debut show in 2016 with musician-comedian Reggie Watts, and have since played sold-out concerts in Los Angeles, New York, Sheridan, Wyoming, where they presented their “musicalette,” Miranda, Please! through the Wyoming Theater Festival, and even in Falam, Myanmar at the Chin Cultural Festival. Last November, Lifetime commissioned Jack and Benny to arrange Burton Lane and Ralph Freed’s “How About You,” featured in the holiday special Snowed Inn Christmas with Bethany Joy Lenz. The Lipsons are teaming with director Justin Ross to develop a 3-character musical theater song cycle of their originals that they plan to produce later this year. Jack and Benny play with musical theater comedy act The Skivvies and perform once a month at the Lyric Hyperion Theater in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.
