Nightjjar is the work of Bristol-based songwriter, Aden Pearce.
Growing up in the Thames Valley, Aden played in various jobbing bands as bassist, guitarist and singer before being first spotted as a solo artist by Interscope Records via a Kerrang! demo competition at the age of 22. The three-track EP was recorded entirely onto a Portastudio in Aden’s bedroom, and gave him encouragement to pursue a career on his own.
Gigging under his own name, he built a reputation as an acoustic act, playing around the South East and self-releasing music along the way. But becoming disillusioned with the one-man-and-guitar acoustic act and the limitations he found he’d imposed on it, Aden began again to tinker with more experimental sounds at home, and took a year out to develop his new ideas.
Nightjjar is the result of it. The Footsteps EP (2017) bridged the gap between his past and the new Nightjjar sound, acoustic-based but with electronic elements and wider sonic scope; The King Of Insincere followed six months later and more closely represented the live act: more loops, more samples, and in more pop-oriented direction.
The success of the King of Insincere led to appearances supporting Roddy Woomble (Idlewild) and at Reading’s Are You Listening? Festival, along with local and national radio airplay.
Now based in Bristol, Aden is currently working on a full-length release, due later in 2019.
