Born in Havana, Cuba. His calling was clear from an early age. At just 3 he was already performing songs in his father’s shows.
At 17 he started his professional career in Cuba’s National Opera, where he gained a solid classical training, refining his voice and singing on international tours of Germany, Austria and Spain among other countries. In 2003 he left the Opera , joined another shows, toured throughout the United States and Europe and worked with a multitude of artists and professionals such as the renowned Kenny Ortega. Later, Kel would move to Berlin and continued touring throughout Europe.
The prestigious New Wave television international competition ( Новая Волна ) put him on the map where the Russian market is concerned. Kel was the winner of the 2013 edition. The programme is broadcast throughout all Russian-speaking countries, giving it a reach of over 200 million viewers.
Following the release of numerous singles, particularly "Baila", "Lyubov na konchikach paltsev" and "Armenia", in 2017 Roberto Kel Torres released his most personal work to date “Diferente”. In 2018 Kel recorded duets with Russian stars such as Lena Waenga and Irina Allegrova and released another single of his own entitled "Chiquitica mía”.
His new single "Lover Lava" is set for release in January 2019. A presence, broad smile and unmistakable voice have become Roberto Kel Torres’ calling cards when he takes to the stage.
