In February 1996, three piece band Alcotomic, emerged from the burgeoning Melbourne music scene. A time when the sticky carpeted inner city pubs and clubs were fast becoming the Australian epicentre of the alternative pop/rock movement, John Freeman Baxter formerly of Melbourne band Holocene joined forces with drummer Andy Strachan and bassist Denny Brereton.

Alcotomic shone through with their unique brand of melodic, hard edged power pop and became part of the famous Melbourne Sound releasing one self titled EP and two singles, Anything But You and Where You Go.

With a stack of accolades and more than 120 live performances over five years, the band decided to call it a day 2001 with Baxter and Inglis forming Prettymess and Strachan joining the Living End.
