Born in Rwanda, raised in Brussels, and eventually settling in Berlin, Barbara Panther has had an upbringing that seems as eclectic as her music.
Fusing experimental electronic with her powerful, soulful vocals, Panther has a sound that comes at the senses from every direction, shifting the listeners' attention every which way as they attempt to take in her far-out sound. While she’s worked with Kid606 and Jahcoozi, her biggest creative collaboration would come as she set to work on her solo debut. Working with producer Matthew Herbert, who'd previously worked with Björk, R.E.M., and Yoko One, Panther put together her daring, self-titled album, which was released in 2011 on City Slang. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
