Born and raised in the Carolinas, Georgia Moon is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. She started out on piano at age 4 with a classical teacher who thought ragtime was too contemporary, progressed to alto sax at age 10, but it was the hum of the guitar that truly drew her in.
When she moved to Charleston, SC for school in 2011 she started playing gigs in bands and as a solo musician, picking up bass guitar, ukulele, and harmonica somewhere along the way. The summer after graduating college she embarked on a southern tour helping hold down the rhythm section for Avi Jacob. She’s also volunteered with Girls Rock, teaching guitar basics and coaching young folk in their musical quests.
Her music is a little folky, a little funky, a little fun. It draws on childhood influences: The Band, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, and the ever-pervasive blues. It draws on places: the Mississippi Delta, the Appalachian mountains, and the point of heartbreak. Above all, it's honest.
Look for her now in western Michigan.
