Command V

Taking their band name from the way to paste data in a computer program, Command V is the experimental electronic pop project of New York-based post-punk/no wave veterans Cynthia Sley, formerly of the Bush Tetras, and Pat Irwin, a founding member of Eight Eyed Spy and the Raybeats and later a member of the B-52's.

When the pair met at a reading by Lydia Lunch, Sley was just beginning to write songs again after a decade-long hiatus; Irwin was working on projects that included André 3000's Cartoon Network show Class of 3000. The pair began collaborating soon after meeting, trading song files that they'd recorded in Garageband. By 2008, they were officially Command V, eventually joined by vocalist/filmmaker Rachel Dengiz and live drummer Zack Alford and bassist Sara Lee. The band's self-titled debut album arrived in March 2012 on Mush Records, followed soon after by the single Hello. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
